“We wrote ‘Safe’ during a time when I felt completely out of control,” shares Turner. “As we sat writing an entirely different song, one of my co-writers asked me, ‘what word comes to mind when you think of God?’ and I responded instantly with, ‘safe’! God is where and who I go to when I need to be covered and reminded that I’ll be okay. He is the peace that stays, our steady ground, protector, provider, constant. He is close to you and me, always!”

Known for piano-driven psalms and hope-filled, modern laments such as “My Prayer For You”, “As It Is In Heaven” and current radio single “Not Even Now”, Turner’s music always points listeners back to the God whose love and faithfulness never fails.

“I’m not healed yet, but I trust His love for me,” says Turner. “And I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to share with others who are going through similar situations, to invite them to worship in the middle of their pain. Alisa Turner’s self-titled debut EP captures the lilt and innocence in Turner’s voice and the heartbreaking, but hopeful truth of her story. Produced by Grammy-nominated, Dove Award-winning Michael Farren, Alisa Turner inextricably weaves her very personal story of grief and suffering with hope and redemption through unfettered, unfiltered worship.
For Turner, who has battled the debilitating effects of Lyme Disease since childhood, music has always been her connection point with God. This includes painful seasons after the unexpected death of her worship pastor dad, hospitalizations brought on by the ravages of her disease and losing her infant son only minutes after he was born.
Through it all, Turner returned time and again to the piano, to music. “I think the Lord created me this way, drawn in by the emotion that comes with music,” says Turner. “When I sit down at the piano, He always uses it to draw me back, to awaken the dreamer, and I always leave different than when I came. I leave different knowing He sees me, He is with me. He is my hope.”
That hope shines through each track on her EP, including “My Prayer For You,” the project’s first radio single, which was penned by Farren.

“It’s always a bit of a wrestle to merge an individual’s story and voice into melodies and anthems that the Church can sing along with,” says Farren. “And yet, when you finally land in that authentic place, everyone recognizes and engages with the refrain you’ve created. Everyone has their story of brokenness, but when they hear from someone who has shared that pain and yet stands and declares the goodness of God, that’s when true worship is loudest…and I pray that’s what we’ve been able to do in telling Alisa’s story wrapped in these moments of worship.”

Apart from the single, Turner co-wrote all of the tracks for the EP, with each song exploring the depths of what it means to worship among the ashes, comforted by and confident in the presence of God. These faith-building songs of overcoming, including “Lift My Eyes,” “Not Even Now,” “More Than Gonna Make It,” and “As It Is In Heaven,” declare God’s Kingdom, deliverance, glory and unshakable power. The project closes with “Psalm 13,” a modern lamentation, conveying the unique timber and emotion of Turner’s life-story.

“My life and my story are messy… there are days when all I can do is keep lifting up my hands in desperation and in worship,” confesses Turner, who still struggles daily with her health. “I know the hard parts of life well, and I can see and sense when someone else is going through it. The best way I know to lead is by example. So, I just worship. That’s all I know to do.”

The 16-year-old, who is based in Dallas, Texas, grew up singing in church alongside her worship leader parents, David and Nicole Binion, and serving on worship teams for the 10,000-member Covenant Church. “Watching MDSN grow as an artist and songwriter and serving her and her family on this journey is a great honor,” says Adrian Thompson, Vice President of Song & Artist Development for Integrity. “We believe she is one of the emerging voices for the next generation of worshipers… hearing God’s heart and singing a new song

The “Kerosene” single, produced by Kyle Lee and co-written by MDSN with Lee and Rhyan Shirley, offers a small taste of MDSN’s joyful energy and the project to come.
“There’s no way that I could hide a love so bright, You light me up like kerosene.” MDSN says she penned the song about “the joy of the Lord” adding, “I want it to make people happy and then have them wonder why… to be musically attractive to people who wouldn’t ordinarily be attracted to Christian music.” Writing since elementary school, at age nine she penned a feel-good pop tune that caught the interest of Disney Channel music executives. Over the next few years, MDSN and her parents kept crossing paths with Disney reps and for a while, it seemed that a career as a pop princess might be ahead of her. But MDSN quickly decided that her heart and God’s calling were pulling her in a different direction. “I want to see people’s lives changed,” she says. “To be an influencer for my generation and to make music that helps Christians deepen their faith while introducing others to Jesus.”

Integrity Music announces the July 28 global release of the live recording Songs Of Heaven & Earth: Volume 1 from songwriter and worship leader Corey Voss. Voss, the Worship & Creative Arts Pastor for Gateway Church in Shelbyville, Tennessee, has written songs recorded by Selah (“I Got Saved”), Paul Baloche (“Psalm 92” / “We Come To You, Jesus”), Jaci Velasquez (“Praise The King”) and Dustin Smith (“How Great” / “Consume Us”) among others. The twenty-something Voss takes his craft as a writer of songs for the Church very seriously. “When we sing songs, we are releasing prayers, scriptures and songs of praise that shift and fill the atmosphere with God’s presence. So, as I write, I begin by asking the Lord, ‘What do Your people need to be singing?’.”

For Songs Of Heaven & Earth, Voss recorded at his home church with producer Kyle Lee (Aaron Shust, Bryan & Katie Torwalt). In addition to “Canyons,” which Voss co-wrote with Dove Award winner Krissy Nordhoff (“Your Great Name”), the project includes “Don’t Ever Let Me Go” a co-write with Dove Award winner Jennie Lee Riddle (“Revelation Song”), and “The King Is Here” a co-write with Rhyan Shirley. The EP is rounded out with songs from fellow Integrity writers: “As It Is In Heaven,” penned by Alisa Turner and Dove Award winner Michael Farren, and “God Who Moves The Mountains,” penned by Dustin Smith, Richie Fike and David Leonard (All Sons & Daughters).

As one might expect from the title, Songs Of Heaven & Earth reflects aspects of both the Creator and His creation. But, Voss, an avid hiker who draws inspiration and lyrical imagery from nature, said the story goes even deeper. “Years ago, a friend shared a prophetic word that God had given her for me,” explains Voss. “She said that the Lord had called me to ‘execute something from Heaven that would be new in the earth.’ That has stayed in my heart all these years. So, when my friend and co-writer Rhyan Shirley was praying for me and said, ‘you should call your next project Songs Of Heaven & Earth,’ I realized that we had come full circle. It just seemed the perfect title and God’s perfect timing.”

Labyrinth is the first volume in a series that offers unique musical meditations using various translations from the Holy Bible, with this first project focusing on scriptures that address anxiety and stress. Unpacking the project’s title, he adds: “Labyrinths were placed outside medieval cathedrals to provide passage from the outer world to the inner sanctum, from the profane to the sacred. They were also placed on the flyleaves of ancient manuscripts to symbolize entry into scripture, to be the gateway into the biblical text. The labyrinth is the symbolic manifestation of God’s command to Moses, ‘Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground’.”
