On Friday 8th November, Vineyard Worship UK & Ireland will release a brand new Christmas song, ‘The Lord Has Come’, written by Vineyard songwriters and worship leaders Joe Blustin and Samuel Lane from St Albans Vineyard church.

This original song grapples with the human struggle within the Christmas story whilst simultaneously pointing to the raw beauty, joy and wonder of a Saviour coming to a broken world.
When asked about the origins of the song Joe Blustin said, “I’ve been a new dad for just over a year and a half which has made me think very differently about how God sees us and so I wanted to write a song about the incarnation.

I really wanted the visceral flesh connection between Jesus and his mother to be paramount; to try and portray the reality of what ‘word made flesh’ really means. I also wanted to draw into the song Jesus’ death and resurrection which is our salvation, our hope and our reason to rejoice. It made me think about the sacrifice he made for us, just because he loves us. What does this song bring up in me? Thankfulness.”

The inspired arrangement produced and engineered by Dan & Matt Weeks, seamlessly blends passionate vocals provided by Kate Cooke (Chichester Vineyard) and Samuel Lane alongside richly layered strings and brass. Vineyard musicians Jesse Duley (Kingdom Vineyard – acoustic guitar) and Phil Merriman (Croydon Vineyard – piano) also feature, bringing together a truly timeless recording.

Elle Limebear has lived her life between two worlds. As the daughter of Delirious? front man, Martin Smith, Elle has experienced first-hand the thrill of stadiums filled with people while on tour around the world. As a worship leader and youth pastor in Brighton, UK, she is immersed in a close-knit, daily ministry within her community. She grew up seeing the global church and her local church worshipping God simultaneously.

“There I was, overcome with emotion in a sea of people worshiping God with everything inside of them. This wasn’t a new experience for me, but this time it was different than all of the times before. God had just injected me with a new dream. I had heard him say, ‘I am going to lead you in something similar to this.’ With that revelation came a rush of new ideas, new ambitions, and songs.” 

That was at Outcry Festival 2017.

Elle sees the future of her music like a concert full of diverse people from the most eclectic of backgrounds drawn in by visuals, melodies, and art that they love. And from there, the effect of good music would become revelations of truth in their lives.

“My hope is for my friends that don’t know Jesus to still identify with these songs,” said Elle. “That they’re on their party playlists, spreading hope, drawing them into truth, and then seeing it spread out to their friends, colleges, clubs, through their cities and wider.”

Elle recently got married to her husband Tom and they live in Brighton, UK. She is currently writing and recording new music, eating satsumas, playing Bananagrams, and enjoying every sunny day she gets in England.

“I’m so happy to release ‘Behold Him,’” shares Baloche. “I’ve been leading it for the past few months now, everywhere from small worship gatherings to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in Scotland with a 500-voice choir and orchestra! In a day and age when busyness and distractions rule our lives, it’s essential to ‘Be still and behold Him’…to ponder and wonder with child-like anticipation. Psalm 46:10 says, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ I struggle with being in control, trying to force things to go the way that I think they should. There is much freedom in surrendering control – being still – and beholding God, acknowledging that He alone is God. He alone is worthy.”

Baloche hopes that “Behold Him,” which he co-wrote with Mitch Wong (Lincoln Brewster, Chris McClarney) will inspire hearts to worship and praise Jesus as well as give a sense of awe and wonder to the listener.

Well-known for penning contemporary hymns such as “Open the Eyes of My Heart,” “Above All,” “Your Name,” and “Hosanna,” Baloche’s songs have been recorded by many acclaimed artists including Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns, Matt Redman, and Philips, Craig & Dean. Also known for leading worship at conferences internationally and nationally, he has been sharing “Behold Him” with audiences worldwide.

It’s been 20 years since the release of “Open The Eyes of My Heart,” and Baloche feels the same now writing “Behold Him” as he did then. “It feels like the same heart cry – a desire to really see The Lord – to behold Him. I don’t want to miss what God is doing in my life and in this generation. I want to see Him, hear Him, and follow Him.”
